NEW DELHI: Taking a hardline stance against illegal constructions, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has outrightly told authorities to raze all the structures within 15 km of country’s border over the years.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the District Magistrates to ensure legal and financial regulations of banking transactions in the border areas.
Shah said this during a security review meet in Bikaner, Shah assessed security-related concerns in the border district of Rajasthan.
In a statement, MHA said the border districts have been directed to conduct in-depth study of networks giving shield to crimes and drug menace. Shah laid emphasis on formulating a 360-degree security cover for every border district.
It is learnt that Home Minister called for ensuring a zero-tolerance policy against illegal constructions particularly within 0-15 km of internal borders.
Union Home Minister underscored the significance of synchronized strategy towards border management which would underpin the BSF, CBDT, NCB and state law enforcement agencies to address issues of infiltration, narcotics smuggling, and encroachment.
“It was stressed upon the implementation of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP)-II to reinforce the last mile governance and espousing border population,” the Ministry said.
